Data Scientist

Usman joined the Campus in March 2022.

Prior to that, he was in the Emerging Platforms Delivery Support (EPDS) division of the Office for National Statistics (ONS) working on the Consumer Prices Alternative Data Sources project as part of a Reproducible Analytical Pipeline (RAP) for the CPIH. He made significant contributions both to methodology and computational efficiency for multilateral price index calculations with Big Data in Python and Spark. After working closely with methodology on index numbers, he was invited to join the Index Numbers Expert Group (INEG) and the Data science, Statistical and High-performance computing (DaSH) expert group.

He also holds an MSci in Mathematics and a PhD in Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics.
