Tom Albone

Head of Faculty

Prior to joining the Data Science Campus, I worked in the ONS Real-time Microdata Research team as part of the Data Science Graduate Programme.

I have a BSc in Environmental Conservation, MSc in Geographical Information Systems and a PGCE in Primary Education. I’ve had a varied career, ranging from business support roles in Sheffield City Council, teaching in a range of primary schools and data analysis in the private sector.

In 2021 I completed a Data Scientist Development programme at the Leeds Institute for Data Analytics before joining ONS on the Graduate Programme. I have a deep passion for education and empowering people with the skills required to work more effectively with data, and have a real impact on those whose lives they work to improve.

Outside of work, if I’m not running around after or being mauled by my daughter, I’ll be found running or hiking some trails, playing social badminton, trying (and failing) to look youthful at the gym or with my nose buried in a good book.
