Luke Shaw

Data Scientist

Luke joined the Campus in October 2018 for a year-long posting on the Statistics Fast Stream program. His role has been working on data science research projects, as well as improving coding capability within the Office for National Statistics by kickstarting the Coffee and Coding initiative.

Prior to working in the Campus Luke spent a year as a road traffic statistician at the Department for Transport, and before that (Sep 2013 – May 2017) he studied at the University of Bath obtaining an MMath degree – opting for statistics modules wherever he could! As part of his degree Luke spent a year in the USA at Purdue University.

His interests are in improving statistical outputs within Government by using good coding practices (and the “use the right tool for the job” mantra for deciding what software is required), as well as learning about new techniques to improve data analysis and insight.
