David Bradnum

Lead Data Scientist

David Bradnum is a Lead Data Scientist at the Data Science Campus, having joined on secondment from the Bank of England in April 2022. He holds a degree in Mathematics from the University of Cambridge, and has a long-standing interest in technology enablers for data science.

At the Campus, David leads the Trade, Shipping and Global Supply Chains squad, using novel data and methods to improve our understanding of these aspects of the economy. For example, this includes analysis of vessel locations and shipping container movements to gain more timely information about trade flows, and exploring natural language processing techniques to extract buyer-supplier relationships from text. David also leads the Campus’ interactions with the Integrated Data Programme, and the coordination of urgent short-term “surge” projects.
