Twitter topic analysis – what do people talk about when they mention Wales on social media?
Here at the Data Science Campus in Newport we have been supporting the National Assembly for Wales in understanding the main topics of conversation that are taking place when people mention use the hashtag “#Wales” on Twitter.
What’s the data science?
We have been exploring several natural language processing (NLP) techniques such as latent dirichlet allocation (LDA) and sentiment analysis to identify key themes of conversation and develop visualisations to aid in interpreting topics.
Finally, the work will be made available on our GitHub page for others to apply to their own keywords of interest.
