Thanasis Anthopoulos

Senior Data Scientist

Thanasis joined the Data Science Campus in October 2017. Prior to that, he worked as a parallel algorithms developer in 3D brain imaging initially as a post-doc in University College London and research engineer in industry later. This is where he developed an interest in artificial intelligence and machine learning when he led projects on infusion detection in patient MRI images and participated in various brain segmentation tasks. He holds a Ph.D in Computer Science from Cardiff University in the areas of molecular modeling and high performance computing, where he developed a real-time ligand-protein interaction modeler running on GPGPU processors. At the Campus so far he has worked on various NLP based projects and currently moving into working with big data technologies. Outside work he enjoys exploring the Welsh coast.
