Owen Daniel

Deputy Director

Owen joined the Data Science Campus in January 2022 as a lead data scientist.

Having completed a PhD in mathematics at the University of Warwick, he has developed data science solutions for a range of operational and policy problems in the public sector. These included fisheries negotiations, to tackling criminal court backlogs.

Within the Campus, Owen leads the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) Hub, who are working with developing nations to support them in adopting data science, through mentoring programmes and innovation projects.

He also leads the Synthetic Data and Privacy Enhancing Technologies squad, who are identifying how modern privacy methods can be adopted by the ONS and wider partners to facilitate analysis which historically would be hindered by data access restrictions.
