Senior Data Scientist

Mat joined the Data Science Campus in September 2022 as a Senior Data Scientist in the Synthetic Data and Privacy Enhancing Technologies squad. Prior to joining the ONS, he worked at the Department for Education as an Economic Adviser.

Before joining the civil service, Mat completed a PhD in statistics and conducted research in the economics of education at the University of Lancaster. Before that, he worked for several years in administrative jobs in the private and public sectors.

Mat lives in Morecambe. Apart from reading, strolling on the beach, and hanging around with his family, his main hobby is mulling things over.
