Emily Tew

Data Scientist

Emily joined the Data Science Campus as a Data Scientist in May 2018 and has a background in social research and a BSc in Psychology from Cardiff University.

She is currently studying part-time for an MSc in Data Science and Analytics. She is working on her final year project, in collaboration with the Campus, on the use of autoencoders for survey data. Prior to working in the Campus, Emily worked for 3 years as a Research Officer and then Senior Research Officer within the social surveys division in Office for National Statistics (ONS).

Emily is keen to blend her knowledge of social research and data science techniques to inform social and public policy, particularly in the areas of people flows, for example, migration or tourism.

In her free time, Emily enjoys travelling and volunteering in countries such as China and Madagascar but much of her travel now takes place in the UK in her 1982 VW camper!!
