Dan Smaranda

Data Scientist

Dan joined the Campus as a Data Scientist in the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) hub in March 2021.

He has a Ph.D. and post-doctorate in Theoretical Particle Physics, which involved simulating Grand Unified Theories in Extra Dimensions with the aid of machine learning and social/evolutionary algorithms.

Dan is interested in using adaptive algorithms, machine learning and Monte Carlo simulations in gaining insights from new data. Outside of work, Dan is interested in cooking, baking, cycling, weightlifting, playing guitar, reading and building Arduino projects.
